Performance Realty sells real estate as well as buys houses to rehab for rentals. We manage properties, too, both those we own and for others.
Performance Realty is basically a one-man shop, and I run a tight ship for rentals. I expect agreed-upon terms to be followed — on both sides. Tenants must do their part, such as pay rent on time and care for the property. And I do my part by maintaing the property and being available to handle unexpected circumstances.
I have had several tenants move and then come back and rent from me again, so I must be doing something right! Performance Realty treats tenants as customers and works hard to keep them happy.
I also specialize in assisting others to build a portfolio of properties so they can depend on themselves and not on the government.
My personal retirement plan includes ownerhip of numerous rental properties that I have acquired over the years. These provide a reasonable monthly income, even if I don't sell a house. I firmly believe in real estate investing (especially since so many high-profile companies have disappeared in scandal lately, taking employees' life savings with them!).
The property management portion of my business allows other property owners to have a no-hassle investment. I handle repairs, rentals (including screening), rent collections, and evictions. I help with all aspects of property investment — purchase, fix-up, lease, and maintenance.

In 1979, I graduated from Principia College, a small private college in Elsah, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts. I went to work for Tandy Advertising and worked in the photo studio. Next I worked as a technical illustrator for General Dynamics, then went to Color Graphics where I assisted with several activities in this thriving printing business.
After a stint selling men's clothing for Neiman-Marcus in Fort Worth, I decided to try something different. I obtained my real estate license in 1985 and went to work for Grable Real Estate. Grable was a small, family-owned company with about 10 agents.
After a little over a year with Grable, I worked for a couple of large names in the industy — William Rigg (currently Coldwell Banker) and Re/Max Associates. After three years with Re/Max, I was with Re/Max All Stars for two years.
In 1996, after a little over 10 years in the business, I decided to branch out on my own and formed Performance Realty.
